History of the Orange Towel

Golf has always been woven into my life. I learned the game by copying the swings I saw in the centerfold of Golf Digest each month. I grew up in a humble home—my mom a school bus driver, my father an engineering technician—without country clubs or formal instruction, just a wedge in the front yard and the determination to get better.

I worked hard to become good enough to pass the PGA Playing Ability Test, earning my PGA membership and briefly pursuing my dream of becoming a head professional. While I eventually realized the golf business wasn’t my long-term path, my love of the game never faded.

During one of my college internships, I found an orange golf towel in the lost-and-found. I attached it to my bag, and over the years it became something people recognized me by. Through countless tournaments—including qualifying for the U.S. Mid-Amateur and representing Illinois in the prestigious Radix Cup—the orange towel became a symbol of identity, perseverance, and passion.

I’ve worn through many orange towels since, and now my daughter—who plays college golf—carries on the tradition with one on her own bag.

The Orange Towel represents where I come from, what I value, and the relationships and experiences that have shaped my life. It’s a reminder to stay grounded, stay grateful, and keep moving forward.

It’s also the perfect name for a company built on humility, hard work, and long-term commitment.
